The Somerset Patriots fend off the Sugar Land Skeeters' late push, hold on 3-1

The Sugar Land Skeeters (6-1) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Somerset Patriots (4-3) on Thursday, as the Sugar Land Skeeters fell 3-1 at TD Bank Ballpark after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.
The Sugar Land Skeeters scored one run in the sixth on a solo home run by Chase Lambin. Despite their efforts, the Sugar Land Skeeters couldn't get over the hump.
Yunesky Sanchez racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Somerset Patriots. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
The Somerset Patriots relied on Brad Thompson to eat up innings en route to the win. Thompson pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out two.
Scott Elarton ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The Somerset Patriots get on top of the Sugar Land Skeeters early but can't hang on in 3-1 loss


The Somerset Patriots (3-3) built an early edge on Wednesday, but the Sugar Land Skeeters (6-0) roared back to steal a 3-1 victory at TD Bank Ballpark.
The Sugar Land Skeeters took the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Anthony Granato.


Travis Scott had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fifth and eighth innings.


Jason Lane looked sharp on the mound. Lane gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Somerset Patriots' Erik Arnesen dominated the Sugar Land Skeeters' batters, giving up two runs and striking out six.
Jared Wells got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Arnesen couldn't get it done on the bump for the Somerset Patriots, taking a loss.

 

The Sugar Land Skeeters take out the Somerset Patriots with help from Lambin, 7-2

Chase Lambin knocked in three runs, sparking the Sugar Land Skeeters (5-0) to a 7-2 victory over the Somerset Patriots (3-2) on Tuesday at TD Bank Ballpark.
He homered in the third innings.
Matt Wright struck out six hitters en route to the the Sugar Land Skeeters win. Wright allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks over five innings.

Joe Holden got on base three times in the game for the Somerset Patriots. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the ninth inning.

The Sugar Land Skeeters couldn't get anything going so long as David Harden was on the hill. Harden gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his four innings of work.

Josh Lowey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out four.

Sugar Land rallies late for a 2-1 victory...sweep the Long Island Ducks


After the Skeeters put on a hitting display in the first 3 games of the 4-game series, it took them until the 8th inning to record their first hit of the game against Long Island. Nick DeBarr and Jared Lansford combined for 7 shutout, perfect innings against the Skeeters.

In the 8th inning, Dustin Martin recorded the first Sugar Land hit with 1 out to end the no-hitter and perfect game. The Next batter, Koby Clemens, ended the shutout with 1 swing of the bat by blasting a 2-run homerun to take the lead 2-1.

Gary Majewski came in for Greg Aquino and sent the Ducks back to the pond, 3 up & 3 down, to earn his 2nd save of the year, securing Aquino his 1st win of the season.

The Skeeters now share the top spot in the Freedom Division with the Lancaster Barnstormers with a perfect 4-0 record!

The boys will now travel to visit the Somerset Patriots for a 3-game series before a 3-game rematch with the wounded Ducks.

The Sugar Land Skeeters take advantage of late error to beat the Long Island Ducks, 5-4

A walk-off error from an Aaron Bates hit brought home the winning run for the Sugar Land Skeeters (3-0) in a 5-4 victory over the Long Island Ducks (0-3) in 11 innings at Constellation Field, Sugar Land on Saturday.  While it was not a display of power like the 2 previous nights, the Skeeters put together a great team effort by recording 9 hits, while drawing 10 walks and only striking out 6 times. 

Roy Corcoran recorded his first win of the year for the Sugar Land Skeeters. Corcoran struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits. The Skeeters went through 7 pitchers over the 11 innings while the Ducks used up 8. Connor Graham was charged with his first loss of the year for the Long Island Ducks.  He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.

With a 3-0 record, the Skeeters now hold the Freedom Division lead by a 1/2 game in front of the Lancaster Barnstormers.  The home-town boys look to sweep the opening series against the Long Island Ducks when they take the field Sunday at 1:35pm.

Early boost from Pressley helps the Sugar Land Skeeters get past the Long Island Ducks, 4-1

Three first-inning runs helped the Sugar Land Skeeters (2-0) to a 4-1 win over the Long Island Ducks (0-2) at Constellation Field, Sugar Land on Friday.

A three-run home run by Josh Pressley delivered the runs in the first. The Sugar Land Skeeters had one hit in the inning. The 4th run came in the 3rd inning when Chase Lambin hit a solo home run to right field. Pressley racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Sugar Land Skeeters.

Jason Lane pitched lights out for the Sugar Land Skeeters. The Long Island Ducks managed just three hits off of the Sugar Land Skeeters' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work to earn his first win of the season. Gary Majewski got the final 4 outs of the game to earn his first save of the season.

Although early in the season, the Skeeters share the Freedom Division lead with the Somerset Patriots at 2-0.

Moss helps the Sugar Land Skeeters down the Long Island Ducks 3-0

The Sugar Land Skeeters (1-0) beat the Long Island Ducks (0-1) 3-0 on Thursday at Constellation Field behind Steve Moss, who had two extra base hits. He doubled in the first innings, singled in the fourth inning, and homered in the sixth inning...missing the elusive cycle by a triple. 

Matt Wright put together a nice outing. Wright gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his five innings of work to earn his first win of the season. Jason Bergman gets his first save of the season as a Skeeter.
 
The Sugar Land Skeeters were sparked by Koby Clemens and Moss, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs...each with their first home runs of the young season.

The Skeeters record is now 1-0...with 169 games left in the regular season!
