Another 2-1 score...another loss

The Skeeters needed a win desperately in this series against the Ducks. The final chance was tonight...and the next pitcher in the rotation was Dustin Richardson (1-0, 3.55 ERA). He would face off against Dan Meyer (2-4, 4.13 ERA) for the Ducks.

Things were relatively quiet for the Skeeters until the 3rd inning when Miguel Negron (walk) was driven in on an Ofilio Castro sac fly to right field giving the Skeeters the 1-0 lead.

The Ducks waited until the 6th inning to tie the game at 1-1 against Ryan McKeller by sending 6 batters to the plate. They combined for just 2 hits and left 2 runners on base...so it could have easily been worse.

The game came to an end when Eric Krebs gave up a single to Dan Lyons...scoring Shawn Williams from 3rd, who had singled off Villa, to score the winning run...Duck win 2-1, again.

The Skeeters used 5 pitchers in the game, Dustin Richardson (3.0 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 3 K), Ryan McKeller (2.2 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, 0 K), Garrett Parcell (1.2 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 3 K), Kelvin Villa (1.0 inning, 2 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 3 K), and Eric Krebs (0.1 inning, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks, 0 K).

The Long Island Ducks clinch the first half of the season in the Liberty Division with a 38-24 record...that means they have an automatic playoff spot in the post-season for 2012.

Kelvin Villa (0-2) got credit for the loss, giving the Skeeters their 4th straight loss, and 3rd 1-run loss to the Ducks this series. This is also the 3rd time the Skeeters have been swept on the road.

All Skeeters consecutive game hitting streaks have come to an end against the Ducks but look to get started against the Bluefish in the next series.  Only 4 Skeeters recorded a hit tonight...Jason Lane, Josh Pressley, Dominic Ramos, & Matt Hagen.

The Skeeters will now hop on a bus and travel to Bridgeport to begin a 3-game series. Bobby Livingston will get the start for the 1st game...which is scheduled for a 6:05pm local time start.
