Skeeters double-up Bluefish...win 8-4

With the elusive "W" getting harder and harder to reach, Sugar Land relied on their ace, Bobby Livingston to nab one for them. Livingston took the mound against Bridgeport's Chris Hayes in the first of 3 games.

The Skeeters jumped on the board quickly in the 1st inning when Steve Moss (walk) scored on a Jason Lane double. Livingston retired the side in order to keep the score 1-0 Skeeters.

Matt Hagen (walk) scored Sugar Land's 2nd run when Octavio Martinez singled to make the score 2-0 Skeeters. Just as in the 2nd inning, Livingston faced 3 and sat them down in order.

In the top of the 3rd inning, the Bluefish committed 2 back-to-back errors allowing Jason Lane & Josh Pressley reach base. Jason Lane scored when Matt Hagen flew out to right field...3-0 Skeeters. Thanks to an error by Luis Figueroa, the Bluefish got a base runner but Livingston was able to keep him from scoring.

Octavio Martinez (single) and Iggy Suarez (single) reached base with no outs in the top of the 4th inning. Martinez scored on Miguel Negron's single, the 3rd single in a row for the inning, and Iggy Suarez scored on a balk by the new pitcher, Matt Pikes...5-0 good guys. Livingston faltered slightly allowing 1 run to score on 2 hits. That made the score 5-1 after 4 innings.

The Skeeters put another run on the board for the 5th inning in a row when Bubba Bell scored on an error committed by the short stop allowed Iggy Suarez to reach base. Livingston settled back down with another 3 up & 3 down inning...6-1 Skeeters.

The Skeeters took a break for the 6th & 7th inning, only recording 2 hits...1 in each inning. The Bridgeport Bluefish appeared to be mounting a comeback when Livingston stumbled...allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, making the score 6-4 Skeeters after 7 innings.

The Skeeters went 3 up & 3 down in the top of the 8th for the 1st time in the game. Sean Morgan came in as relief and faced 3 batters...retiring the side in order.

The Skeeters sent 7 batters to the plate in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. Octavio Martinez singled in Josh Pressley (walk) and Matt Hagen (single) scored on a fielder's choice on an Iggy Suarez hit...8-4 Sugar Land. Gary Majewski came in to pitch the 9th inning, retiring the side in order...SKEETERS WIN 8-4!!

Octavio Martinez gets the MVP for the game. He went 4-5, all singles, had 2 RBIs, and scored 1 run.
