Long Island evens Championship series at 2-2
The Long Island Ducks sixth-inning burst enough to top the Lancaster Barnstormers, 9-3
The Long Island Ducks (5-4) rolled over the Lancaster Barnstormers (5-2) 9-3 on Saturday at Bethpage Ballpark after a seven-run rally in the sixth inning.
Kraig Binick pushed the Long Island Ducks ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Lee Cruz singled to start the sixth. He then went from second to third on an RBI single by Mitch Canham. Finally, Binick came to the plate with the score tied at two in the sixth inning, and singled, bringing home Cruz.
Bryant Nelson racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Long Island Ducks. He singled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and tripled in the sixth inning.
The Lancaster Barnstormers' lineup had no answer for John Brownell. The Lancaster Barnstormers managed just three hits off of the the Long Island Ducks' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his six innings of work.
Beau Vaughan couldn't get it done on the mound for the Lancaster Barnstormers, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
