Patriots walk-off in 9th with win over Skeeters

With just 12 games left in the Inaugural season, the Skeeters hopes of making the playoffs are dwindling with each game lost. In hopes of turning things around, they Skeeters visit Somerset for 2 games against the Patriots. Micheal Nix got the start for Sugar Land while Roy Merritt got the call for Somerset.
Micheal Nix pitched 5.0 innings, gave up just 1 hit while walking 1 batter and striking out 6 before turning things over to Will Startup. Startup pitched 2 innings, gave up 3 hits while striking out 1 batter. Roberto Giron came in for the 8th inning and issued 1 walk.

The Skeeters were able to get on the board in the top of the 7th inning when Matt Hagen singled and came in to score on a 1-out double by Iggy Suarez...1-0 Skeeters.

Things looked good for the Skeeters in the bottom of the 9th inning when Gary Majewski came in to end the game. However, things did not go well for the Skeeters. Majewski gave up 4 runs on 4 hits to end the game with the loss. 3 of the runs came on a walk-off 3-run home run by Jeff Nettles. Patriots win 4-1.

Luckily, the Barnstormers & Revolution both lost so the Skeeters do not lose any ground on the playoff spot. Sugar Land is 8 games behind 1st place Lancaster for that play off spot.

The final game of the season between Sugar Land and Somerset is scheduled for Thursday evening at 6:05pm local time.
