Long Island vs. Southern Maryland - Game 3 results


The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeat the Long Island Ducks after late game, 7-5

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (1-2) outlasted the Long Island Ducks (2-1) on Friday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-5 win at Bethpage Ballpark.
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. A hit by pitch scored Eduardo Morlan and gave the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs the lead for good.
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs staved off the Long Island Ducks as the Long Island Ducks were unable to match the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs down the stretch.
The Long Island Ducks scored on a two-run single by Timo Perez in the eighth inning and an RBI single by Kraig Binick in the ninth inning. Still, the Long Island Ducks couldn't catch the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
Brian Barton went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He singled in the fifth inning.
Charlie Manning improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Manning struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.
Eric Niesen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
