Skeeters clip the Ducks

After sweeping the Riversharks in 3 games, the Skeeters needed to win the final game of the series against the Ducks to avoid being swept. Ryan McKeller took the bump for Sugar Land while Adam Rowe threw for Long Island.
Just as in the first 2 games, the Ducks took the lead. This time, it was a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning when Ray Navarrete hit a 2-run home run.

The Skeeters took control of the game in the 4th inning when they scored 4 runs on 4 hits...all 4 hits were doubles. Jason Lane started it off with a lead-off double and scored on a 1-out double by Steve Moss. Matt Hagen then drew a walk and Iggy Suarez doubled to bring in Moss & Hagen. Suarez then scored on a Manny Mejia double to make the score 4-2 Skeeters.

In the top of the 5th inning, Ofilio Castro continued the doubles streak with his own and was singled in by Aaron Bates before the side was retired. After McKeller got 2 outs in the inning, he walked a batter that later scored on a double...5-3 Skeeters after 5 innings.

Aaron Bates got his own double in the 6th inning, scoring Ofilio Castro (walk) & Jason Lane (single) to make it 7-3 Skeeters.

Neither of the teams could get things going after that so the final score was 7-3...SKEETERS WIN!

Hitting Streaks:
Manny Mejia (3)

With the win, the Skeeters are 1 game behind Lancaster for the division lead. They are also coming home to face the Lancaster Barnstormers in a 6-game series so the next series is huge in terms of play-off implications.

The series against Lancaster gets started on Friday with game 1 at 7:05pm.
