Batting practice results in win

After a disappointing loss to the Somerset Patriots at home, Sugar Land looked to turn things around against the Camden Riversharks on the road. Ryan McKeller got the call for Sugar Land while Keith Weiser got the start for Camden.
The Skeeters got on the board first in the 2nd inning by scoring 2 runs on 2 hits, while 1 error was committed by Camden. Steve Moss (hit by pitch) scored on a throwing error by the short stop on a Manny Mejia ground ball. Manny then scored from 2nd base when Iggy Suarez singled...2-0 Skeeters.

An insurance run, which happened to be the game winning RBI, was added in the 3rd inning when Steve Moss singled, scoring Ofilio Castro (single). The Riversharks got that run back when Paddy Matera hit a lead off double, but because of an error by the second baseman, was able to score. 3-1 Skeeters after 3 innings.

In the 4th inning, the Riversharks scored 1 run on 3 hits to make the score 3-2 after 4 innings. Things could have gone bad for Sugar Land as the inning ended with the bases loaded.

The Skeeters added another run in the 5th inning when Bubba Bell doubled, scoring Josh Pressley (walk) from 3rd base. The Skeeters led 4-2 after 5 innings.

The final run for the Skeeters came in the 6th inning when Josh Pressley singled, scoring Dominic Ramos (ground rule double)...5-2 Skeeters.

Gary "Juice" Majewski came in for the 9th inning to secure the win. He faced just 3 batters, ending the game on a 4-6-3 double play, earning his 16th save of the season. SKEETERS WIN 5-2!!!

My MVP of the game is Ofilio "OC" Castro. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and scored a run.

Hitting Streaks:
Iggy Suarez (7)
Dominic Ramos (6)
Jason Lane (3)
Josh Pressley (3)
Steve Moss (3)
Bubba Bell (2)
Matt Hagen (2)
Ofilio Castro (2)

The Skeeters were just 1 batter short, Manny Mejia, from every position player getting a hit in the game. Even without a hit from Manny, the Skeeters still racked up 15 hits in 9 innings!

With the win, the Skeeters stay a 1/2 half behind Lancaster for the division lead as they won as well.

Game 2 of the series in scheduled for Saturday at 4:35pm local time.
