"Lights out" for Skeeters

After a strong showing with a comeback win last night, the Skeeters hoped they would not have to repeat that performance in Friday's game. Michael Nix took the mound for Sugar Land while Bryan Corey threw for Camden.
Things did not start well for Nix as he gave up a 2-run single to Pedro Feliz before getting out of the 1st inning. The Skeeters would go 3 up & 3 down in the inning keeping the score 2-0 Camden.

Both teams would go 3 up & 3 down in the 2nd & 3rd innings but, in the 4th inning, things once again got out of control for Nix & the Skeeters. With the help of 2 errors and 1 hit, the Riversharks were able to add 3 runs to their lead making the score 5-0 after 4 innings.

The Skeeters would finally get on the board in the bottom of the 5th inning. With 2 outs, Manny Mejia doubled and came around to score when Steve Moss singled. After Moss stole 2nd base, he came in to score on an Iggy Suarez double. Dominic Ramos then came up to bat and hit the 2-run home run to make the score 5-4 Camden after 5 innings.

Camden came storming back in the 6th inning adding 3 runs on 5 hits to take the 8-5 lead. After Josh Pressley hit a lead off double for the Skeeters, Aaron Bates moved him to 3rd with a ground out to 1st base and Manny Mejia got the RBI on a ground out to short stop. Camden leads 8-5 after 6 innings.

The excitement of the night came during the Skeeters' at bat during the 7th inning when the field lights went out for some reason. The concourse, scoreboards, and luxury boxes still had power though. After a 20 minute delay, and a fireworks show,  things got back underway. The Skeeters could not get anything going for the rest of the game and that score, 8-5 Camden, is where it ended.

My MVP of the game is Dominic Ramos. He went 2 for 5 getting a home run and a single with 2 RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Ofilio Castro (4)
Bubba Bell (3)
Josh Pressley (3)
Dominic Ramos (3)

With an 8-7 record, the Skeeters are 1 game behind Lancaster for the 2nd half lead and 1/2 a game ahead of Somerset who comes in for a 4-game series starting Monday.

The 3rd game of this series with Camden is scheduled for Saturday night at 7:05pm.
