Kazmir pitches gem in no-decision

With Lancaster losing earlier, the Skeeters had a chance to gain some ground. They also had the chance to put some distance between themselves, Somerset, & York as they lost as well. Scott Kazmir got the start for the Skeeters and faced off against Mike Loree for the Ducks,
Kazmir pitched 4 scoreless innings, giving up just 3 hits while recording 1 strike out. His performance, combined with 2.2 innings from Pedro Liriano, 1.1 innings from Garrett Parcell, and 1 inning from Jeff Farnsworth, the Ducks were held scoreless, only getting the 3 hits Kazmir gave up.

The game-winning hit came from a Josh Pressley lead-off home run in the top of the 4th. The insurance run came in the top of the 7th inning when Bubba Bell sliced a double to center field scoring Octavio Martinez (walk). The Skeeters win 2-0!!!

My MVP award goes to Josh Pressley for going 2-4 with a single, a home run, and 1 RBI.

Pedro Liriano got credit for the win and Jeff Farnsworth gets the save.

Hitting Streaks:
Josh Pressley (12)
Steve Moss (11)
Bubba Bell (5)

Home Runs:
Josh Pressley (9)

With the win, the Skeeters (4-4) are just 1 game behind Lancaster (5-3) for the 2nd half playoff spot. The Skeeters are now 1.5 games ahead of Somerset (3-6) & York (3-6).

The final game of the series is scheduled to start at 4:05pm local time.
