Skeeters celebrate Father's Day with win...
The Skeeters looked to continue their winning ways and make it 3 consecutive wins versus Camden. The Father's Day starting pitchers were Heath Phillips for Sugar Land and Kevin Reese for Camden.
Not much happened for either team until the top of the 3rd inning when the Skeeters were able to send 6 batters to the plate and scored 2 runs on 2 hits. With 2 outs, Bubba Bell walked & Miguel Negron doubled. Jason Lane, keeping pace with last night, doubled scoring Bell & Negron to take the 2-0 lead.
The game once again belonged to the pitchers and it was quiet for both teams until the top of the 6th when the Skeeters were able to add an insurance run. The score became 3-0 when Jason Lane scored on an Iggy Suarez single.
The Riversharks were able to score 1 run on Phillips in the bottom of the 7th inning, which turned out to be Phillips' last inning. Heath Phillips controlled the game from the beginning pitching 7 innings, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits. He also walked 1 batter and recorded 3 strike outs.
The Skeeters added 2 more runs in the top of the 8th inning when Manny Mejia & Iggy Suarez scored on a Ryde Rodriguez single...the lead was 5-1.
Ryan McKeller came in for relief of Phillips in the 8th and continued the pitching domination for Sugar Land. He went 2 innings, facing the minimum 6 batters. McKeller walked 1 batter, struck out 2, and did not allow a hit.
