Skeeters survive Shark attack in 9th

Hoping to avoid the series sweep in Camden, manager Gary Gaetti handed the ball to pitching staff ace Jason Lane to face off against Bryan Corey.
The Skeeters took the lead in the 2nd inning by scoring 3 runs on 5 hits. Dionys Cesar, Matt Hagen, & Ofilio Castro started the inning by getting on base with 3 consecutive singles to load the bases. Bubba Bell then stepped up and hit a double to score Cesar & Hagen. The 5th batter of the inning, Iggy Suarez, singled driving in Castro to make the score 3-0. The 6th batter, Steve Moss, reached on a fielder's choice in which Suarez was thrown out at 2nd base. In the midst of everything, Bubba Bell was also thrown out in a 5-4-2-5-2-1-6-3 putout for out number 2. In other words, Bell was tagged out in a run-down.

In the 3rd inning, the Skeeters added 1 more run to make it 4-0 good guys. Dominic Ramos hit a lead off single, then worked his way to 3rd base with the help of a Dionys Cesar single, and a Matt Hagen walk...which loaded the bases. Ofilio Castro got the RBI with a sac fly to left field which was deep enough for Ramos to score.

The Skeeters continued their consecutive innings scoring streak by putting 3 runs on the board with 4 hits in the 4th inning. Iggy Suarez started the inning off with a lead off single and came around to score when the next batter, Steve Moss doubled. Josh Pressley singled to give the Skeeters runners on the corners. During Dominic Ramos' at bat, Steve Moss scored when he stole home, but Pressley was tagged out for the 1st out.  Ramos eventually walked and came around to score on a single hit by Dionys Cesar...7-0 Skeeters after 4 innings.

In the 5th inning, and the 4th inning in a row, the Skeeters lead-off batter reached base. This time, Ofilio Castro walked on 5 pitches. Iggy Suarez singled bringing Castro across home plate to make it 8-0 Skeeters after 5 innings.

Up until the 7th inning, Jason Lane had dominated the Riversharks batters and had only allowed 2 hits. The Riversharks finally put runs on the board when, with 2 outs and 2 on, Lloyd Turner hit a double, scoring 2 runs to make the score 8-2 after 7 innings.

The Skeeters were held scoreless for the 6th, 7th, 8th, & 9th innings with the combination of 3 Rivershark pitchers.

Dustin Richardson came in to pitch the 9th inning for the Skeeters. He quickly left the 9th inning after failing to record a single out...loading the bases with 3 consecutive walks. Gary Majewski came in to try and stop the bleeding before a feeding frenzy broke out in Camden. Try as he may, the Riversharks were still able to get 4 runs on 3 hits, leaving 2 runners on base, before he could retire the side. The final score was 8-6...SKEETERS WIN!!

Every batter for the Skeeters got a hit today but Dionys Cesar went 4-5 with 4 singles...his first 4-hit game as a Skeeter!

Hitting Streaks:
Dominic Ramos (7)
Steve Moss (3)
Josh Pressley (2)
Matt Hagen (2)
Ofilio Castro (2)

The Skeeters will now take a 2 hour bus trip to York for the 4-game series that starts Monday at 5:30pm local time.

This ends the head-to-head match-up between the 2 teams with Sugar Land winning 13 out of 20 games on the season.
