Skeeters Bite Revolution, Win 10-3

After the media frenzy that was Roger Clemens' side-session, the Skeeters took the field against the Revolution in hopes of getting another win. Scott Kazmir got the call for Sugar Land and looked to continue where he last left off in his last start. He faced off against Ryan Feierabend for the York Revolution.
After going 3 up & 3 down in the 1st inning, Kazmir's 1st inning struggles continued. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2 batters giving York the 2-0 lead.

In the 2nd inning, Jason Lane missed a 1-out home run by inches, bouncing a double off of the "Arch-nemesis" in left field. Aaron Bates joined Lane on the bases with a 2-out walk but Matt Hagen struck out looking to end the rally. Kazmir, despite giving up a 2-out double, settled down and retired the side scoreless to keep it 2-0 York.

The Skeeters went 3 up & 3 down, on just 7 pitches, in the 3rd inning. Kazmir once again worked a scoreless inning to keep it 2-0 York after 3 innings.

To start the 4th inning, Steve Moss hit a lead-off double, the 2nd double of the game for the Skeeters. Jason Lane hit a 1-out single to center field and luckily, Gaetti held Moss at 3rd because he would have been thrown out...runners at the corners. Carlos Sosa drove a single through the hole between 1st & 2nd, scoring Moss. In quick fashion, Aaron Bates hit a bloop single off the handle of the bat which drove Lane in from 2nd base and was followed by a single by Matt Hagen to score Sosa to take the lead. With 2 outs, Ofilio Castro singled bringing Bates home to make it 4-2 Skeeters.

Steve Moss started the 5th inning off with a single and advanced to 2nd on an error. Moss then came around to score on a Pressley single. Carlos Sosa then singled to give the Skeeters 2 runners. Aaron Bates then blasted a 3-run home run to make it 8-2 before the side was retired. Kazmir came out to pitch the 5th inning and gave up 1 run before ending the inning. 8-3 Skeeters after 5 innings.

Matt Hagen got things rolling in the top of the 8th with a 1-out single. Things really got going for the Skeeters with 2 outs when Ofilio Castro walked & Dominic Ramos singled to load the bases. Steve Moss kept thing going with a 2 run double to make it 10-3 before the inning ended. That score also happened to be the final...SKEETERS WIN!!

My MVP of the game goes to Aaron Bates. He went 2 for 4 with a single, a home run, and had 4 RBIs.

Hitting Streaks:
Dominic Ramos (9)
Steve Moss (5)
Ofilio Castro (4)
Matt Hagen (3)
Aaron Bates (3)
Carlos Sosa (2)

Home Runs:
Aaron Bates (4)

With this monstrous win, and finally a Lancaster loss, the Skeeters pull 1 game closer, now 7 games back. The Skeeters are also sporting a 3-game win streak that they hope to continue Wednesday. They are now just 1.5 games behind York for 2nd place in the division.

The 3rd game of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night at 5:30pm local time.
