Clemens gets first win, Clemens gets first hit

I know, confusing right? Pitchers don't bat in this league! But, unless you have not been watching much sports news over the last few days, you know that there are now 2 Clemens playing for the Skeeters. The obvious is Roger Clemens making is 2nd start for Sugar Land. The newest Clemens would be his oldest son, Koby Clemens who signed with the team for the remainder of the season. The history of the evening came when Roger threw his first pitch of the night with his son Koby catching. That single pitch became the first time in professional baseball to have a father pitch to his catching son.
Now to the game!

Clemens fired a perfect 3 up & 3 down inning to start just as he did in his 1st start. The Skeeters batters, came out swinging and proved they were ready to make an end of season push for the playoffs. After Dominic Ramos reached 1st base on an error by the pitcher, Ofilio Castro and Jason Lane both singled to load the bases with no outs. Steve Moss struck out and Koby Clemens flew out in his 1st official at bat to make it 2 quick outs. Josh Pressley then stepped up and hit a bases clearing double to the gap between left & center fields to make it 3-0 before the side was retired.

Roger Clemens got his 1st win by pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing just 2 hits and keeping the Ducks scoreless. He now has 8 innings pitched, 3 hits, 3 strike outs, 0 walks, and his ERA is 0.00 in 2 starts. 27 batters have faced The Rocket and have struggled mightily to hit him and have a .101 batting average to prove it. Pretty good for a 50 year old man if you ask me!

Things scoring-wise shut down for both teams until the Skeeters added an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th inning. With 2 outs, Koby Clemens hit a double down the left field line to record his 1st official hit as a Skeeter. Josh Pressley then singled scoring Koby from 2nd base to make it 4-0 Skeeters before the side was retired.

Gary Majewski would come out to pitch the top of the 9th inning in a non-save opportunity. After giving up a lead off single, he retired the next 3 batters to end the game. SKEETERS WIN 4-0!!!

The obvious MVP of the game is Josh Pressley. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 4 RBIs.

Hitting Streaks:
Dominic Ramos (12)
Steve Moss (8)
Josh Pressley (7)
Ofilio Castro (7)
Jason Lane (4)
Iggy Suarez (2)
Dionys Cesar (2)

Both Lancaster & York won their games so there is no change in the playoff picture. The 2nd game of this series is scheduled for Saturday night at 7:05pm at Constellation Field.
