Bluefish spear Skeeters in 8th inning

With nothing but pride on the line, the Skeeters took the field in the final game of the series and season-ending game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. Michael Nix took the mound for Sugar Land while Jonah Bayliss threw for the Bluefish.
In the 2nd inning, after Steve Moss walked and stole 2nd base with one out, Bubba Bell singled driving Moss in for the score making it 1-0 Skeeters.

The score stayed 1-0 Skeeters until the 7th inning when Dionys Cesar reached base on an error and eventually came around to score on another Bubba Bell single making it 2-0 Skeeters.

All signs pointed to a 3rd win in a row until the 8th inning when the Bluefish took the lead scoring 3 runs on 4 hits...3-2 Bluefish.

The Skeeters made a run at it in the 9th inning when Manny Mejia & Steve Moss both singled with 1 out in the inning but were stranded...Bluefish win 3-2.

Hitting Streaks:
Octavio Martinez (4)
Steve Moss (2)

With the loss, the Skeeters now have a 33-31 record in the 2nd half with 6 games left in the season. The series was split 2-2 with the season match-up going to the Sugar Land Skeeters with an 11-9 record.

The Skeeters are off on Monday, and will travel home to prepare for the season-ending 6-game series against the York Revolution beginning Tuesday.
