Win for Skeeters in Clemens debut

With a capacity crowd, 7724 officially, Roger Clemens took the mound for the Sugar Land Skeeters to face off against another former major-leaguer, Brad Thompson.
Roger came out in control and stayed in control for 3 1/3 innings. He threw just 37 pitches with 24 of those being strikes against 11 batters. He held the Bluefish scoreless, allowed just 1 hit and struck out 2 batters. He did not factor into the win because of the short outing but looked to be in good shape...ready for another start in the future?

The Skeeters got their lone run in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Aaron Bates singled, driving in Dionys Cesar (double) with 1 out.

The Skeeters would tally 7 hits to the Bluefish's 5 hits.

Micheal Nix came in to relieve Clemens and went 3 1/3 innings as well, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 3 batters.

When Nix got in trouble in the top of the 7th inning, Roberto Giron came in for 1 1/3 innings, allowed 0 hits while striking out 1 batter.

Gary Majewski came in for the 9th inning and closed out the game earning his 20th save of the season...SKEETERS WIN 1-0!!

Hitting Streaks:
Dionys Cesar (4)
Iggy Suarez (2)

Ofilio Castro ended his team-leading 9 game hit streak tonight going 0-3.

The win pulls Sugar Land to within 5.5 games out of 1st place behind Lancaster who lost to the Long Island Ducks tonight.

Game 3 of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 6:05pm.
