Skeeters sweep Riversharks

Looking the get the sweep in Camden, Scott Kazmir was the hurler for Sugar Land while Kevin Reese of looked to stop the 2-game losing streak for the Riversharks.
Kazmir went 5 innings, allowed 2 runs on 3 hits while walking 2 batters. The most important thing the Skeeters got to see from this start was that Kazmir seems to be getting his control & location back as he was able to strike out 7 batters.

Thanks to a 2-run 2nd inning in which a Steve Moss sac fly scored Josh Pressley (double), and a Manny Mejia single to left field scored Iggy Suarez (double), Kazmir left the game with the score tied 2-2, in line for a no decision.

In the 8th inning, the Skeeters took the lead on an Aaron Bates single that scored Matt Hagen (Pinch runner for Pressley), which turned out to be the winning hit/RBI. The Skeeters also added an insurance run in the same inning when Aaron Bates scored on a Steve Moss double. The Riversharks got 1 run back on 2 hits to make the score 4-3 after 8 innings.

Just to play it safe, the Skeeters went ahead and added another run in the top of the 9th inning when Amadeo Zazueta (single) scored on a Bubba Bell single to make it 5-3 Skeeters...Camden coming to the plate. Saul Rivera came in to attempt the save and only allowed 1 base runner due to a walk to end the game and earn his 1st save of the season with the Skeeters.

My MVP of the game is Aaron Bates. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles while scoring 1 run and getting 1 RBI...the game winning RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Josh Pressley (5)
Steve Moss (5)
Amadeo Zazueta (5)
Bubba Bell (4)
Ofilio Castro (4)
Manny Mejia (2)

With the win, the Skeeters sweep the Riversharks series and pull even with the Lancaster Barnstormers who have a game against Somerset later Sunday. If Lancaster wins that game, Sugar Land will be 1/2 a game behind them. If Lancaster should lose the game, that will put Sugar Land 1/2 a game in front for the division lead.

The Skeeters will now travel to Long Island to face-off against the Ducks for a 3-game series starting Monday at 6:05pm.
