2 games, 1 day...2 WINS!

After the first game of the Sugar Land vs. Lancaster series was rained out on Monday, the boys got to play 2 games on Tuesday. Since it was a doubleheader, both games were just 7 innings.

GAME 1

Kelvin Villa got his 2nd win of the season and Roberto Giron got his 2nd save of the season when the Skeeters beat the Barnstormers 5-2. Giron pitched 2 innings of shutout ball to lower his ERA to 0.78!

Lancaster took the early lead with 1 run in the 1st but Sugar Land took that away from them in the 2nd inning by putting up 2 runs. After Steve Moss hit a 1-run home run, Dionys Cesar reached 2nd base on an error and stole 3rd base. Amadeo Zazueta then singled to bring him home. 2-1 Skeeters...and they never looked back after that.

In the top of the 4th inning, Manny Mejia doubled to drive in Dionys Cesar (single) & Iggy Suarez (walk). Mejia then scored on an Ofilio Castro single to make the score 5-1.

The Barnstormers were able to put 1 more run on the board in the 5th inning but could get no closer...SKEETERS WIN 5-2!!

Hitting Streaks:
Dominic Ramos (5)
Manny Mejia (3)
Bubba Bell (2)
Iggy Suarez (2)

GAME 2

This one was closer but Jason Lane pitched well enough to earn his 5th win of the season while Gary Majewski got his 19th save of the season with the 3-2 win.

The Skeeters decided to take the first lead when Matt Hagen hit a 2-run home run with Dionys Cesar (walk) on base in the top of the 2nd inning...2-0 Skeeters!

The Skeeters added a run, the game-winning run, when Dominic Ramos tripled, driving in Ofilio Castro (single)...3-0 Skeeters!

The Barnstormers tried to make a comeback by adding 1 run in both the 4th & 5th innings but fell short...SKEETERS WIN 3-2!

Hitting Streaks:
Ofilio Castro (6)
Dominic Ramos (2)

With the 2 wins, the Skeeters gain 2 games on the division leader Barnstormers and are now just 3.5 games out of 1st place. The only problem is that the York Revolution won both of their games in their doubleheader so they stay in front of the Skeeters in 2nd place.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night at 6:00pm local time.
