There's no QUIT here!

After getting shut-out last night, the Skeeters hoped things went much better tonight. Michael Nix got the start for Sugar Land and faced Deinys Suarez for Southern Maryland.

The Skeeters got going in the 3rd inning when Matt Hagen blasted a lead-off home run to take the 1-0 lead. The Blue Crabs got the run back after a 2-out single by Christian Lopez scored Casey Benjamin (walk). The Skeeters then retook the lead when Josh Pressley doubled, scoring Bubba Bell (single)...2-1 Skeeters after 4 innings.

All hell broke loose in the top of the 5th inning. Michael Nix faced 5 batters, allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, and committed an error, before being replaced by Jeff Farnsworth. Farnsworth inherited 2 base runners but on his 5th pitch of the inning, gave up a 3-run home run to Travis Garcia...all before an out was recorded in the inning. He did retire the side without giving up another run but the damage was done...7-2 Blue Crabs. The Skeeters got 1 run back when Iggy Suarez jacked a home run...7-3 after 5 innings.

It was the Skeeters' turn to feast in the 6th inning. They sent 8 batters to the plate, scoring 3 runs. Amadeo Zazueta got his first RBIs when he hit a 2-run double scoring Manny Mejia (single) & Steve Moss (single). Zazueta eventually scored on a Bubba Bell sac fly to make the score 7-6 Blue Crabs...Skeeters swarming back!

The Skeeters took the lead back in the bottom of the 7th inning. Josh Pressley (walk) was replaced with Ryde Rodriguez to run the bases. Speed was not needed as Manny Mejia hit a 2-run home run to make the score 8-7 Sugar Land.

Roberto "THE UNDERTAKER" Giron and Gary Majewski worked together to pitch the 8th inning with Majewski finishing the game, getting his 10th save of the season. Giron gets his 1st win of the season.

For just the 2nd time this season, every starter for the Sugar Land Skeeters recorded a hit...making it the epitome of "A team effort" to win.

My MVP of the game is Bubba Bell. He went 3-4 with 3 singles, 1 run scored & 1 RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Josh Pressley (8)
Dominic Ramos (8)
Steve Moss (7)
Amadeo Zazueta (2)

Home Runs:
Matt Hagen (4)
Iggy Suarez (3)
Manny Mejia (2)

The Skeeters are now in sole possession of 2nd place in the Freedom Division with a 2-2 record, now 1.5 games behind Lancaster, who did not play tonight.

The next game of the series is set to start at 7:05pm local time Tuesday...hopefully the rains will stay away.
