Skeeters drop heart-breaker in 13th inning

In a game that turned out to be the longest game, both in the number of innings played and length of time, the Bridgeport Bluefish walked-off with the win in the bottom of the 13th inning over the Skeeters.

Jason Lane got the start for the Skeeters against Mike Tarsi for the Bluefish.

Lane went 6 innings, gave up 4 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 5 strike outs and got the no-decision for his efforts.

The Skeeters took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Steve Moss hit a lead-off HR.

In the top of the 3rd inning, the Skeeters added a run after Ofilio Castro (single) scored on a Steve Moss single. The Bluefish tied the game at 2-2 by scoring 2 runs on 3 hits.

The Bluefish took the lead in the 4th inning when Jason Lane gave up a 1-run HR to Luis Figueroa, the same guy the Skeeters released just the day before...KARMA IS A BITCH!!

The score became 4-2 Bluefish in the 6th inning after Luis Figueroa singled in James Simmons.

Steve Moss was quickly becoming the go-to guy for runs in the game when in the 8th inning, he tied the game with a 2-run HR making the score 4-4. The Bluefish once again took the lead back on a 1-run HR...this time by James Simmons. The score was 5-4 Bluefish after 8 innings.

The Skeeters tied the game in the 9th inning when Ofilio "THE HERO" Castro singled, driving in Dominic Ramos from 2nd base.

The teams went back and forth sending batters to the plate with only 3 hits recorded between them for the 10th, 11th, 12th, & top of the 13th.

The game ended in the 13th inning when Prentice Redman (walk) was pushed to 3rd base on a Brock Peterson single...and scored on the walk-off sacrifice fly by Edgardo Baez...Bluefish win 6-5.

My MVP of the game goes to Steve Moss. He went 4-6 with 2 home runs & 4 RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Bubba Bell (3)
Dominic Ramos (3)
Matt Hagen (2)

Home Runs:
Steve Moss 2 (4)

The Skeeters now travel home for a 4-game series against......the Bridgeport Bluefish!! The final game of the series will end the first half of the season for the Skeeters and will wipe the slate clean. What I mean by that is, the Skeeters will have 70 games for the second half chance at a play-off spot in the post season.

The 1st game is scheduled for a 7:05pm local time start.
