Lane fires complete game shutout

After dropping game 1 of the series, the Skeeters looked to Jason Lane to get them back on track against the Blue Crabs.

Not only did he do what Gary Gaetti, and the Skeeters needed him to do...he went above and beyond. Jason Lane threw his first complete game as a pitcher. Lane gave up just 3 hits to the Blue Crabs while walking 1 batter and striking out 9...keeping them scoreless as well!

The Skeeters bats finally got going as well and were able to keep tacking runs on throughout the entire game. Josh Pressley got the Skeeters going with a solo home run in the top of the 2nd inning. Manny Mejia added 2 more runs to the board in the 3rd inning after a double scored Ofilio Castro (single) and Josh Pressley (walk). The 5th inning continued the domination when Josh Pressley hit a double scoring Bubba Bell (walk) and Iggy Suarez (walk) while Steve Moss got in on the RBIs with a single to score Josh Pressley. Ofilio Castro singled to score Bubba Bell (error CF) and Iggy Suarez (double) in the 6th inning to take the 8-0 lead. The bats calmed down for the 7th & 8th innings but with the "LANE TRAIN" screaming down the tracks...there was nothing to really worry about. SKEETERS WIN 8-0!!!

The MVP of the game goes to Josh Pressley. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk...scored 3 runs and had 2 RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Bubba Bell (8)
Josh Pressley (6)
Steve Moss (5)
Ofilio Castro (3)
Manny Mejia (3)

Home Runs:
Josh Pressley (8)

With this win, the second half record is 1-1...tied with Somerset (1-1) and 1 game behind Lancaster (2-0) for the 2nd play-off spot.

Game 3 is scheduled for 6:05pm Sunday evening. At this point, Scott Kazmir is scheduled to get the start...but will be on a strict pitch count.
