Nix loses Game 4 in the 6th inning...

After being handed 2 losses in the last 2 games, the Skeeters needed to pull a win out in this, the final game of the series to stay close to the top of the division. Bobby Livingston (2-2, 5.06 ERA) was given the start for the Skeeters while Nick Green (3-1. 2.49 ERA) got the call for the Blue Crabs.

It looked to as though a pitching duel was in the works as there was only 1 combined hit between the 2 teams through the first 2 innings but things changed in the 3rd inning. Livingston faced 7 batters allowing 2 runs on 3 hits...leaving 2 runners on base. Green faced 5 batters allowing 2 runs on 3 hits as well. The 2 runs came on a 2-out home run from Drew Locke, his 4th of the season. In the 4th inning, the Blue Crabs were able to send 5 batters to the plate...adding 1 run after a double by Mike Daniels and 2 wild pitches...allowing him to score. The Skeeters answered back when Jason "BIG MAN" Botts hit a lead-off home run to tie the game at 4-4...his 8th of the season. After giving up a walk, and recording 2 outs in the 5th inning, Michael Nix cam e in to retire the side allowing a single...but holding the Blue Crabs scoreless. The Skeeters sent 7 batters to the plate scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. Bubba Bell hit a single scoring Rude Rodriguez and Jason "BIG MAN" Botts slapped a double to score Drew Locke and Bubba Bell. The score was 3-6...Skeeters lead!

After the Skeeters batters were gracious enough to pad the lead...Michael Nix gave it all back plus 2 in the top of the 6th. Nix faced 8 batters, gave up 5 runs on 4 hits...including a 2-out 3-run home run to Christian Lopez. The Skeeters now trail 8-6 after 6 innings. Other than Ryan Houston walking the bases loaded, and then striking out the side holding the Blue Crabs scoreless, nothing much happended in the 7th inning.

By sending 7 batters to the plate and getting 3 hits, the Blue Crabs were able to add 2 insurance runs against Gary Majewski...now leading 10-6 headed to the 9th inning as the Skeeters went 3 up & 3 down in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Kelvin Villa was sent to the mound for the 9th inning and faced 5 batters, allowed 2 hits but kept the Blue Crabs scoreless. If the Skeeters hoped to split the series, something BIG had to happen in the bottom of the 9th. After loading the bases with 2 outs, the Skeeters were only able to score 1 run before the inning was retired with Bubba Bell striking out. The final score was 10-7.

This loss gives the Skeeters a 15-18 record for the season ans puts them in a tie with the Somerset Patriots for 2nd place at 3.5 games behind Lancaster for 1st place.
