Game 3 vs. Lancaster Barnstormers

After dropping game 2 by 1 run, the Skeeters looked to get back to their winning ways in this, the 3rd of a 4-game series against Lancaster. Bobby Livingston got the start for Sugar Land while Mark Brackman go the start for Lancaster. Earlier in the day, about 2 hours before the start of the game, Jimmy Van Ostrand got the call all baseball players want to get. His contract with the Skeeters had been purchased by the Washington Nationals. Good luck "Dr. Van Ostrand" and keep tearing things up on your way to the BIGS!!

Iggy Suarez got things stated for the Skeeters and, after he walked and reached 3rd on a Jason "BIG MAN" Botts' single, scored on a Pressley sacrifice fly to give the Skeeters the lead 0-1. The Barnstormers, known for being the best hitting team in the league, went 3 up & 3 down for the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th inning. The Skeeters added a run in the bottom of the 4th as they got 3 hits and Ofilio "THE HERO" Castro, after hitting a triple, scored a run making the score 0-2 after 4 innings. The Barnstormers were able to get a base runner but it was quickly erased by a double play and the Barnstormers were held in check for the 5th inning in a row by Livingston. The Skeeters again added another insurance run in the bottom of the 5th inning. With 1 out, Suarez reached 1st base after a throwing error by the 3rd baseman, Botts singled, and Pressley walked to load the bases. Ofilio "THE HERO" Castro singled scoring Suarez to make the score 0-3, Skeeters leading.

The Barnstormers finally got on the board in the 6th inning after Adam Godwin walked with 2 outs, then moved to 2nd base on a Livingston balk. Godwin scored on a Blake Gailen single making it 1-3. The Skeeters scored for the 3rd inning in a row by putting 2 runs on the board. Dominic Ramos singled, Drew Locke walked, and Iggy Suarez singled to load the bases with 1 out. During Jason "BIG MAN" Botts' at bat, Ramos scored on a wild pitch, and Botts finally reached 1st base on a walk to once again load the bases. Ofilio "THE HERO" Castro singled, scoring Locke, but Suarez was thrown out by the right fielder at home plate trying to score from 2nd to end the inning. The score was 1-5 after 6 innings.

Sean Morgan came in to relieve Livingston and faced 3 batters, allowing a walk, and 2 singles, allowing 1 run to score. Without recording an out Morgan was pulled and Gary Majewski came in to end the "rally". He did that by recording 2 strike outs and retired the side without allowing another runner to score.

The game ended as Majewski again faced 3 batters, setting them down in order for the 2nd inning in a row. The final score was 2-5...SKEETERS WIN!

Hitting streaks:
Jason "BIG MAN" Botts (7)
Drew Locke (5)

This win pulls the Skeeters to within 2 games of 1st place, behind the Somerset Patriots, and 1.5 games out of 2nd place behind the Lancaster Barnstormers in the Freedom Division.

Sunday's game is scheduled for a 6:05pm local time start.
