Game 2 vs. York Revolution

After taking the series opener, the Skeeters sent Matt Wright to the mound to face Yunior Novoa. The Skeeters also looked to add another win the the streak on the road.

Just as they did on the first game, the Skeeters quickly fell behind in the 1st inning, trailing 0-1 after Wright gave up a 1-run home run to Michael Hernandez, who now leads the league with 8 home runs. The Skeeters again waited until the 3rd inning to score, this time putting 2 runs on the board via 3 singles by Locke, Bell & Van Ostrand. The Skeeters scored again in the 6th inning when Bubba Bell tripled and was then driven in on a Van Ostrand ground out to short stop...making the score 3-1. After 7 very solid innings of pitching, Matt Wright was relieved by Ryan Houston. Wright only gave up 1 run on 6 hits, struck out 6, giving him the league lead at 32, and issued zero walks, dropping his ERA to 1.95 for the season. Houston dominated the 8th sending the Revs down in order. The 9th inning saw the Skeeters add an insurance run when Ben Harrison scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a walk and stealing 2nd & 3rd base...making the score 4-1. Gary Majewski relieved Houston for the 9th inning and gave up 1 run on 3 hits, securing the win.

Had it not been for the top four in the line-up; Drew Locke, Bubba Bell, Jimmy Van Ostrand, & Jason "BIG MAN" Botts, the skeeters would have been held without a hit. They also combined for 3 of the 4 runs scored by the Skeeters.

This win improved the season record to 11-14, giving the Skeeters a 6-4 record over the last 10 games. It also pulled them to within 3 game of Lancaster as they were defeated by Long Island this evening, 0-7.

Hitting streaks:
Jimmy Van Ostrand (6), Jason "BIG MAN" Botts (4), Bubba Bell (2) & Drew Locke (2).

The final game of the series is again scheduled for 5:30pm local time.
