Game 2 vs. Bridgeport Bluefish

After matching the longest win streak of the season at 3 games yesterday, the Skeeters hoped to keep things going when they took the field Saturday night but wound up on the losing end.

Bobby Livingston (SL) and Gilbert De La Vara (BPT) battled for the first 3 innings only allowing 4 hits combined. The Skeeters scored first in the game in the 4th inning. Pressley reached base on a walk, Van Ostrand singled and Suarez walked to load the bases. With 2 outs, Kade Johnson hit a single scoring Pressley and Van Ostrand to take the 2-0 lead. Livingston came out and struggled in the inning allowing 4 singles, a double and issuing 2 walks resulting in 5 runs for the Bluefish to take control of the game and lead 2-5. The Bridgeport pitchers where able to hold the Skeeters to just 4 more hits scattered over the last 5 innings of the game...shutting down the offensive production the Skeeters had for the previous 2 games. The Bluefish were able to tack on 2 more runs over the last 5 innings to win the game 2-7.

The game took just over 2 1/2 hours to play making it one of the quickest games played by the Skeeters in this, their inaugural season. Livingston took the loss for the Skeeters giving him a 1-2 record with a 6.12 ERA over 5 games.

The rubber match game in Bridgeport is set to begin at 1:05pm local time.
