Game 1 vs. So MD Blue Crabs

Well...not much good happened in this game. Bubba Bell, Drew Locke, & Jason Botts stretched their consecutive game hitting streak to 5 games and Ben Harrison jacked another HR giving him 2 for the season. Everything seemed to be going the Skeeters way until the 7th inning...when they gave up 6 runs putting them behind 7-2. Things started turning around however in the top of the 8th as the Skeeters began a small rally with 2 outs in the inning but were only able to score 1 run, leaving 2 runners in scoring position...making the score 7-3.  The bottom of the 8th inning had the Skeeters bringing in Trey Rackel, their 6th pitcher of the game...but the Blue Crabs really did not care as the first 2 batters reached on a single and double. A 1out intentional walk loaded the bases for the Blue Crabs which led to a sacrifice fly scoring 1 run. Rackel got out of the inning leaving 2 runners on base and allowing only 1 run...making the score 8-3. In the 9th inning, Ben Harrison had a chance for the cycle, having already hit a single, double, and HR, but struck out. Benitez ended the game by hitting into the infamous 6-4-3 double play.

With the loss to the Blue Crabs, the Sugar Land Skeeters fell into a 6 team tie for the league lead which includes the Lancaster Barnstormers, Long Island Ducks, Camden Riversharks, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, and Bridgeport Bluefish...all have a 3-2 record on the season. The Skeeters are tied with the Lancaster Barnstormers for the Freedom Division lead.

Tomorrows game against the Blue Crabs begins at 6:05 local time (CST).
