Opening Weekend Recap
Since this blog did not come to life until the first home series was complete...I will give you a brief run-down of the series against the York Revolution, the 2-time defending league Champions.
After much anticipation by the home crowd, the day had finally come for the Skeeters to take the field. The first game took place on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in front of a completely sold out crowd and I am sure, even though the home team lost by a score of 3-2, not one fan went home disappointed. The highlight of the game came when Ben Harrison became the first Skeeter to hit a home run at Constellation Field accounting for the Skeeters 2 runs of the game! The second game gave the home crowd MORE to cheer about as the Skeeters dominated the game from start to finish and won by a score of 10-1!! Game three of the home stand had left-handed hurler Bobby Livingston becoming the first starting pitcher for the Skeeters to record a win at the home field with the Skeeters winning 3-1. Also in this game, lead-off hitter Bubba Bell had the Skeeters' very first triple with his first at bat of the game! On Sunday, Game 4 proved to be the game that got the leagues attention as the Skeeters again defeated the defending champions 5-0 placing them in first place within the Freedom Division and in tie with the Long Island Ducks in the Liberty Division with a 3-1 record for first place in the league!
The Skeeters have an "off" day, travel day, before starting a 10-game road trip which will have them playing 3 games against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, 4 games against the Lancaster Barnstormers, and 3 games against the Somerset Patriots.
