Tide turns on Skeeters, lose 8-3

After 2 dominating performances by the Skeeters over the Revolution, they took the field against the Revs looking to continue their 3-game win streak. Michael Nix got the call for Sugar Land while Wade Korpi to the mound for York. The Revolution announced that manager Andy "Etch" Etchebarren would retire after the season was complete and current pitching coach Mark Mason would become the new manager.
The Skeeters picked up right where they left off last night by loading the bases. Ofilio Castro hit a lead off single, Dominic Ramos doubled to left field and Steve Moss walked. With 1 out, Jason Lane hit a sac fly to right field to score Castro from 3rd base, the throw home allowed Ramos & Moss to advance. The Skeeters were only able to score 1 run as Pressley struck out to end the inning. Michael Nix came out throwing laser beams and despite committing an error on what should have been the 3rd out, he retired the side scoreless while striking out 2 batters. 1-0 Skeeters after 1 inning.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Aaron Bates stepped up and blasted his 5th HR of the season, 2nd in as many nights, to give the Skeeters the 2-0 lead before the side was retired. Things started off shaky in the bottom of the 2nd inning for Nix as he gave up back-to-back singles. After both runners advanced bases on a sac fly, a wild pitch by Nix allowed both base runners to score, tying the game at 2-2 before the side was retired.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Revs took the lead on a 1-run home run by Chris Nowak...York leads 3-2 after 4 innings.

Chris Nowak struck again in the bottom of the 5th inning when he hit a 2-out GRAND SLAM off of Will Startup to give the Revs the 7-2 lead before he was able to retire the side.

A wild pitch, this time by Garrett Parcell in the bottom of the 7th inning allowed 1 run to score for the Revs making the score 8-2 after 7 innings.

With Jason Lane & Josh Pressley on base in the 8th inning, Iggy Suarez reached 1st base with the help of an error which allowed Lane to score making it 8-3 York...and that was the final score as well.

My MVP of the game is once again Aaron Bates. He went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, and 1 RBI.

Hitting Streaks:
Dominic Ramos (10)
Steve Moss (6)
Josh Pressley (5)
Ofilio Castro (5)
Aaron Bates (4)
Carlos Sosa (3)
Jason Lane (2)

Home Runs:
Aaron Bates (5)

With the loss, the Skeeters drop to 2.5 games in behind York for 2nd place. The Skeeters did make up a game on Lancaster as they lost, bringing the Skeeters to 7 games out of 1st place with 18 games to go.

The final game of the series is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30pm local time.
