Skeeters buzz Revolution for 5-3 win in final game


Well, this was game number 140 which means the Inaugural Season has come to an end. And what a season it was! Check back over this week for seasonal highlights to wrap-up the first year of what we have come to love...Sugar Land Skeeters baseball!!

Kelvin Villa got the call for the final game of the season and would face off against Chris Waters for York.
York struck first in the top of the 1 st inning scoring 1 run on 2 hits while leaving 2 runners on base. 

The Skeeters got on the board in a big way in the bottom of the 4th inning. Manny Mejia took 1st base on a lead-off walk and advanced to 2nd base on an Octavio Martinez ground out, Iggy Suarez singled bringing him home...1-1. Dominic Ramos then took 1st base after being hit by a pitch to give Sugar Land 2 base runners. Ofilio Castro then flew out to 1st base for the 2nd out in the inning. Jason Lane then stepped up and with a 1-1 count, blasted a 3-run home run to left field! Skeeters now lead 4-1 after 4 innings.

The Revolution made it 4-2 using 2 hits and left 1 runner on base in the 6th inning.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Ofilio Castro walked and Jason Lane singled giving Josh Pressley a shot at increasing the lead.  Pressley singled to right field to score Castro but was thrown out at 2nd base trying to stretch it out. The Skeeters now lead 5-2 after 8 innings.

Gary Majewski came in for the save opportunity and gave up 1 run on 3 hits to score his 25th save of the season. SKEETERS WIN 5-3!!

The game MVP goes to Jason Lane. He went 2 for 4 with a single, a home run, and 3 RBIs. He was also voted Skeeters season MVP by the fans...and proved he deserved it in the final game!!

The Skeeters end the 2nd half with a 35-35 record, which with a 29-41 1st half record, gives the a 64-76 season record.
