The Long Island Ducks get 10 strikeouts from Way in 3-1 win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs
Thursday was a great day for Matt Way, as Way struck out 10 batters to carry the Long Island Ducks (2-0) to a 3-1 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (0-2) at Regency Furniture Stadium.
Joash Brodin helped the Long Island Ducks pull ahead for the duration in the eighth inning. Dan Lyons singled to start the eighth. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Kraig Binick. Finally, Brodin came to the plate with the Long Island Ducks trailing by one in the eighth inning, and reached on an error, bringing home Lyons.
It was a good day at the plate for the Long Island Ducks' Brandon Sing. Sing went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the seventh inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Richard Mercado paced the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at the plate. Mercado went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.
Matthew Vasquez (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
Rain delay in 4th inning for Lancaster & York
With the Barnstormers leading 3-1 in the 4th inning, the game was called for a rain delay. The game will be continued Friday night at 7pm starting in the top of the 5th inning.
