Skeeters pinched in 9th inning

After an amazing come back last night, the Skeeters were poised to take the 3-2 series lead by sending Bobby Livingston to the mound to face-off against David Jones.

The Skeeters came out swinging in the bottom of the 1st inning scoring 3 runs to take the 3-0 lead. Jason Lane (walk) scored on an Ofilio Castro double. The next batter, and newest Skeeter, Aaron Bates hit a 2-run home run on the first pitch he saw as a Skeeter.

Livingston gave 1 run back in the top of the 2nd inning when Travis Garcia hit a home run. The Blue Crabs then added 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd inning off a Richard Giannotti 2-run home run. The score was tied 3-3 after 3 innings.

The runs were a thing of the past for both teams until the top of the 9th inning when the Blue Crabs took the 4-3 lead. The Skeeters were able to load the bases but, with 1 out, Manny Mejia hit into the game ending 5-3 double play...Blue Crabs win.

The Skeeters faced 3 different Blue Crabs pitchers and struck out a season high 11 times. Between Livingston (7), Parcell (1), Giron (2) & Majewski (2), the Blue Crabs struck out 12 times.

My MVP of the game is Aaron Bates, the new guy. He went 2-4 with a single, home run, and 2 RBIs. Welcome to the team Aaron!!

Hitting Streaks:
Josh Pressley (9)
Steve Moss (8)
Bubba Bell (2)
Jason Lane (2)
Matt Hagen (2)

Home Runs:
Aaron Bates (1)

The Skeeters had a chance to pull within a half game of Lancaster because they lost earlier today but with the loss, they are again tied with the Somerset Patriots, 1.5 games behind Lancaster.

The final game of the series is scheduled for 7:05pm Wednesday night.
